I would like to hear how brushes vs. sticks sound on each head. I would also love to hear how each head sounds on a variety of different shell materials… like birch vs. maple, aluminum, steel, brass, etc… It would also be helpful to hear an Evans head compared to the equivalent Remo head in each of these types. Just trying to keep you guys busy!!! Thanks.

I have the Genera Dry right now and it’s really good, but I think next time I’ll go with the HD as it doesn’t have the holes and is a little less punchy. I think it should be more versatile for the wide range of genres I like to play.

I use the Genera HD on my Yamaha 6.5 Copper snare, love it and out of all the heads it still comes up as my favourite.
Question: What tuning tension or key (C or G) are you using on your tuning of the snare drums.
Finally great job enjoyed the video, very helpful, Cheers and Happy New Year

It’s funny, but I liked how the Genera HD sounded in the video, then I looked on my kit to see what I was using, and sure enough.. it was those heads.

Agreed. I like the Genera HD the best. Just enough cut but still dead enough so it doesn’t overwhelm the rest of the kit.

I have blue hydraulics on my snare and 6 drums(not bass)and black hydraulic on my piccolo off to the side which sounds incredible! The hydraulics have a much warmer sound and hold tuning alot longer that’s why I got them, because my 4 year old plays on it everyday too and I’m tired of tuning! If a 4 y/o goin crazy can’t break em they’re strong enough for me! But now I’ve heard 2 more I want too, thanks man

My favorite for the lack of ring. I don’t like when my snare rings while the bass plays.

i have a hydraulic black on my snare, its lasted me about 8 months and im a heavy hitter occasionally even with damaged sticks (out of necessity of course) it finally gave out on me a few weeks ago with split in the top ply. the amount of oil inside is minimal to the point you barely notice it let alone have any problem with leakage or messy spills 🙂 hopefully this puts any doubts in your mind to rest. great skin and highly recommended if you want deep tones without alot of ring 🙂

I recently slapped some G2s on my toms, and what a treat they are! I listened to some youtube videos, but this is the best comparison I’ve seen.
You continue to help the drumming and Drumeo community greatly, and I’m so glad I belong to Drumeo. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent on drumming.
And happy birthday….! 🙂

I mean, I don’t usually break my snare heads, but if there’s oil in the middle I don’t want oil spilling everywhere when it’s a bit broken.

A person can’t audition every brands every model. Your lesson took a ton of legwork out of drum head choice. The funny thing is that of all 19 heads I prefered the G2 that I have been using for a couple of years. Evans has a new issue the G12 a single ply 12 ml. thanks man happy b=day///( did he just say bidet?)
